Build your FVT position and work for the DAO
In the just the last few weeks DAOs have captured the imaginations of what I would estimate at a few million people. We saw the birth and strange death of ConstitutionDAO play out before anyone could really process what was going on. One of the first DAO happenings.
Why was this interesting?
Well, it’s exploded the concept of DAOs in people’s minds all over the world. All of a sudden, everyone wants a DAO. I’ve spoken to people who want investment DAOs, learning DAOs, content creation DAOs, play to earn DAOs, NFT DAOs, musicDAOs, membership-driven metaDAOs. All of a sudden in the last few weeks.
What’s happening is that people are starting to imagine DAOs.
Once some of the key concepts fall into place you can start to think in the new world of DAOs. What if you could organise on the internet over anything? What if you could reach consensus with psuedoanonymous frogs? What if you can raise a $40m treasury in a week to buy the American constitution?
Where this goes is going to be weirder than anyone can imagine at this point. What we do know is that we’ll be there creating the tools that people need to not just imagine DAOs but build them. Here’s a selection of what we’ve been up to this month.
finance.vote @ DeFi Live
The team was fortunate to attend DeFi Live in London where Dr Nick moderated the virtual panel, “How To Govern A DeFi-Led World”. They discussed DeFi safety, DeFi maturation, stable coin governance, DAO trends, NFT utility and DeFi regulatory status.
Stoner Cats Vote on DAO name
The Stoner Cats community voted to decide the name of their DAO.
This is one of the most significant quadratic votes ever to utilise influence.vote, GO CATS!
The winner? Drum roll please… Metawoods Studio.

ConstitutionDAO tries to buy the US Constitution
ConstitutionDAO mounted an audacious bid to buy an original copy of the US Constitution. They hurdled some significant obstacles:
Getting recognised by Sotheby’s as an entity capable of buying it
Covering all the logistics issues (transportation, storage, etc.)
Building a community to support the endeavour
Crowdfunding a ton of Eth, just to name a few
The transparent nature of the blockchain, though, reared its translucent head. The bidders they were up against could see precisely how much money was in the DAO treasury and just had to bide their time and outbid the DAO, which they did.
Additionally, due to the speedy set-up of the DAO, the DAO now faces a new challenge: the governance of its ballooning community. At FVT, we understand all too well the pitfalls to governance and have developed an optimised suite of tools to help any DAO govern.
Governance will be the hot button optic heading into 2022, and lucky for you, we have DeGov (decentralised governance) guru, Dr Nick.

Dr Nick on Quadratic Voting (The Cornerstone of DeGov)
If you do anything this week, watch this video.
We are (finance).vote because I believe that voting is one of the most important pillars of the DeGov stack. What makes DeGov work? Social consensus formation. Blockchains aren’t very good at computing the complexity of humans. DAOs are the social layer that lives on top of blockchains.

Dr Nick goes into:
What QV (Quadratic Voting) is
How QV attaches decision making to economics
How contemporary democracy is financialised
How blockchains can improve democracy
What semantic ballot voting is
How QV and prediction markets are a winning combination and much more
Vote update: Migrate to Discord, Kill Telegram?
From 05-08 November, we carried out an exclusive vote with Citizens ID holders to decide whether to migrate fully to Discord from Telegram. It was a binary vote but with a semantic ballot.
“Yes” was the overwhelming winner. However, the semantic nature of the vote (i.e. describe why you voted the way you voted) meant there were various reasons people voted yes and thus other possibilities on how to best move these channels forward.
So, it’s time to coax out the nuance and hold another quadratic vote about Discord & Telegram. Don’t miss this governance vote. Go and mint a Citizens ID now!
Come and Work for the FVT DAO!
The easiest way to build a position in $FVT is to work for the DAO.
The DAO produces a lot of audiovisual content, and we need that content to be accurately transcribed. Key nuggets of information need to be pulled out to create shareable insights with the FVT family and the crypto community at large.
